He wasn’t ready. After my last post about Andy’s journey with us we sat over breakfast discussing what I thought the next blog post should cover and how we would convey it… by a video interview! Almost immediately I could tell he was completely uncomfortable; the change in skin tone, from what one would consider normal, to a very rosy red color. “You don’t want to do it?” I asked him. “No, its not that. It’s just speaking in front of a camera makes me nervous. I’m afraid I’ll freeze up,” he said. “I’ll tell you what Andy,” I said, “we won’t do the video until you tell me you’re ready, how does that sound?” “Okay dad, I’ll be sure to let you know” he said, making sure not to keep eye contact me with. Now, three months later he is ready, and here is how it happened…
“Dad, do you still want to record a video of me?” he asked just after getting finished with one of his morning devotions. “Yes, are you ready?” I said trying not to show too much excitement. Then folding his hands over his mouth he says, “Yes, but I don’t want a script, I just want to say what is in my heart today.” “Andy, I think that is awesome,” I said agreeing with the wisdom he must have learned that lead to his statement.
We decided to do the recording at the church to get away from distractions and to take advantage of the much better lighting.
What you are about to see is nothing short of a miracle of God being ‘A father to the fatherless.’ I was not prepared for what I heard while I was recording this video. I was and still am very surprised about the courage it must have taken to share this with the world. All in all, this is a story of God’s all consuming and abundant Grace.
This is the last post chronicling our journey with Andy. I pray it has blessed you and taught you more about the character of God than you knew before. Too see the video, please click the link below.
